Everything I do seems to involve performing arts of some kind. Years of saying yes to almost everything means I'm competent at an amazing list of works areas and excellent at just a few!My old explanation of what I did used to be very simple - anything with a plug on! I'm just as happy performing as working behind the scenes. Lately, in my theatre work, I'm a Company Manager and Production Manager. I'm singing and playing bass guitar in the UK Beach Boys - a busy touring tribute band. Just recently I've even agreed to do some supply teaching! I rather miss it, I discovered. The only thing I have absolutely no talent at whatsoever - is dance. I know quite a bit about it, I can even verify it for exam boards, but even a simple hand-jive is impossible. In the hotter months, I'm running the shows at the Britannia Pier Theatre in Gt Yarmouth - something I've done for many years now - moving in, installing the equipment, finding the people to run the shows. This is the hardest job now. The budgets are squeezed so much, the people MUST be local, and it seems all the good ones have now got proper jobs. So we're doing lighting, sound, video, music, production - everything! The band is great fun - I'm enjoying this more than I expected, although somebody who lives in the most easterly town in the UK has no business being in Devon one day and then Dubai the next!
