I regularly represented the organisation at district and national level and presented on different aspects of our project to further learning in the country on WASH interventions. -

Wash TraineeConcern Worldwide Oct 2012 - Aug 2014I started a two year entry-level traineeship with Concern to enable me to learn the management skills required to manage development programmes specifically in water and sanitation (WASH) but also comprising generally of all engineering aspects. The programme was divided into 3 parts with time spent in the head office alongside the advisors and then in two separate country offices.Dublin (Oct 12 – Dec 12)For the first three months I worked in the head office aiding with the development of country proposals and minimum standards for project components such as monitoring and evaluating. I also attended training courses to prepare for my time overseas in areas such as security, proposal writing and budgeting.Sierra Leone (Jan 13 – Oct 13)I was based in Freetown for my first overseas placement where I worked as part of the Urban WASH Consortium in the city a DFID funded programme involving five INGOs working in 49 city sections throughout Freetown and the Western Area of Sierra Leone reaching 681,770 people. I worked alongside the programme manager supporting her with budget and forecasting, training and hiring of staff, meeting with the other consortium agencies and the donor, writing reports and strategies and aiding with construction aspects. I was involved in surveying and assessments as well as developing designs as part of the construction work and supervised some of the ongoing site work.Tanzania (Nov 13 – Aug 14)My second placement was in Tanzania, I worked with the Western District Zonal Manager in Ngara District on a EU and charity: water programme. Specifically I worked with water user groups (WUGs) to enable them to sustainably manage water points, I also assessed water treatment options in households and schools to recommend the most suitable method for beneficiaries. -
