An experienced aviation professional with over 44 years in the design, development and certification of Aircraft. As the Technical Director of FirePoint, a PIA for the US Army CCDC AvMC. I oversee all projects to assure technical quality is delivered in everything we do. Notable assistance in informing requirements of new platforms, developing MOSA requirements, reviewing and detailing modernization plans, and the introduction of advanced digital design, sustainment and manufacturing tools to engineers and maintainers. Working in additive Manufacturi for the past 15 years in developing the specifications and processes supporting qualification and certification of AM parts. I am a charter member of the SAE Additive -Metallic, repair and certification committees and served as the original chair of the non-metallic AM Committee and now serving as the vice chair. I have been the PI on a FAA grant studying Emerging Metallic Structural Technologies for the past ten years, serving as liaison between industry and the FAA to better understand new materials and processes and any unique characteristics to assist both prior to their introduction into a product assuring safety and reducing risk.In my tenure at NIAR, as a Lab Director I developed new Laboratories and new capabilities for our industry and our government partners. Before that I was an Engineering Director at Hawker Beechcraft in Wichita, Kansas with 33 years of experience, 28 at HBC. Prior I was the company Chief Engineer with responsibility for company model line Chief Engineers and Company Project engineers. Some of my more notable achievements at Beech were:Chief engineer for the development and certification for the Hawker 4000; A super-midsized business aircraft with transcontinental range.Developed the T-6A Trainer through concept, MD, Certification and customer deliveries. Egress IPT leader during the MD phase. Chief engineer during the missionization of the basic T-6 to meets the needs of the Canadian NATO and Hellenic Air Force with store integration and basic weapons systems integration. Project Engineer of the subcontract to design and manufacture the composite gear doors and composite winglets for the C-17 Military transport.Design and certification of the wing of the first certified all composite aircraft Starship 1.The first five years of my career were at Cessna, where i worked on composites and new aircraft development.
