As a Research Associate at UMiami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, I work with my colleagues in the Cancer Modeling Shared Resource to provide a setting in which academic researchers can analyze novel treatments in a preclinical setting. My role largely is located in the modeling work that includes Flow Cytometry, Ultrasound, and In-Vivo imaging to track the growth of subcutaneous tumors as well as metastasis models found circulating in the blood. We routinely perform these projects under strict timetables to ensure PIs receive data quickly for grant submissions and publications.I also have several years of working in an in vitro environment, culturing both bacterial and mammalian cultures for the characterization of cellular signaling cascades and the characterization of enzymatic reactions. My skills included transforming cells, purification of proteins, computational modeling of small molecules in protein structures, and designing DNA constructs as needed for studies.I'm eager to continue my career growth in the pharmaceutical and clinical industry to expand our ability to develop new methods to combat diseases that continue to prove hurdles for people wanting to live long healthy lives.
