Previously the was Honorary Clinical Research Associate in the University of Oxford’s Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute.Synchronizing education to adolescent biology is an important new perspective on the issue of later school starts. Kelley has also written a policy document for the Education Commission of the States on this topic with Clark Lee at the University of Maryland. Spaced Learning - Kelley & Whaton's ground-breaking study (see Making long-term memories in minutes: a spaced learning pattern from memory research in education) has now been taken up in research and business contexts. The results were… Show more PRESS RELEASEIn May 2015 the University of Surrey Business School conducted a 600 student research project into the effectiveness of different learning/teaching methodologies, the largest study of its type ever conducted.As part of that research Download™, a Spaced Learning based product developed by Dr. Paul Kelley and his partners Simon Strong and Adam Beard was tested against traditional lecture/classroom based learning and self-learning. The results were dramatic.Download™ learners acquired 20% more knowledge than traditional learners, 23% more than directed learners and 36% more knowledge than independent learners. In terms of knowledge application Download learners were 13% better at applying knowledge than traditional learners, 19% better than directed learners and 25% better than independent learners. Four further metrics were measured with Download™ performing equally well in all.As a result, Paul, Simon and Adam have launched Download Learning Ltd toprovide their Patented Spaced Learning product, Download™, to both the academic and commercial sectors. This is a perfect example of how academic research can be translated into a cutting-edge commercial product.
