About Paul Killpack
I have always been fascinated by the creative process and the development of ideas. I have also been involved with visual arts. As a younger man I was interested in becoming a fine artist but was uncomfortable with the idea of art just for art sake. I have been more interested in creating with a practical purpose in mind. That's how I ended up in the commercial end of art as an illustrator and a graphic designer. I still had the chance to create visually beautiful things but It felt much more valuable to me and put me in a position to help solve day to day problems. I have been involved in print design for many years but recently have switched my focus to the digital world. It is a natural evolution to the work I have always been involved in. It is an opportunity for me to continue to solve problems in an even more effective and powerful way. I love the idea of focusing on the user and giving them a quality experience. That has always been part of design but I think the user gets sacrificed at times for other considerations. UX design brings it back to the forefront where it should be. I also really enjoy the collaborative nature of UX and the opportunity to elevate design projects to a higher level than would be possible by working alone.
