The Intelligence Project at the Harvard Kennedy School Belfer Center seeks to prepare a new generation of officers for leadership in the intelligence community, to educate current and future policy makers on the uses and limits of Intelligence, and to enrich the experience of Harvard Kennedy School students and fellows. The program includes the international cadre of Recanati-Kaplan fellows and the Elbe Group dialogue between US and Russian former senior intelligence and military officers.

Led BP’s Group Intelligence team supporting threat warning, risk mitigation, and crisis response. Built enterprise capability for geo-political threat intelligence, strategic cyber intelligence and business intelligence for BP leadership, security networks, and global business units.

Served for 25 years in the CIA’s Directorate of Operations in a variety of foreign and domestic roles, including as Chief of Station, Chief/Central Eurasia Division, and Balkans Group Chief. Overseas assignments included operational and leadership roles in the former Soviet Union, the Balkans, Southeast Asia, Southern Africa, and Central Europe. Member of the Senior Intelligence Service and recipient of the Intelligence Medal of Merit and the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal.
