As a research assistant in Dr. Tristan Maerz's lab (Orthopaedic Research Laboratories) at the University of Michigan, I investigate the pathologies of post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Our work focuses on a mouse model of post-traumatic osteoarthritis and aims to implicate signaling pathways responsible for osteoarthritis pathophysiology. I isolate cellular components that have been implicated in PTOA pathogenesis and determine the biological response of these molecules in response to ACL rupture models. I also analyze phenotypic markers in mice limbs to determine impact of both disease and treatment of afflicted mice. These experiments have made me proficient in micro-CT, ACLRs, BF and fluorescence microscopy, RNA extraction, RT, and qPCR.
