Paul Lee is a partner of the firm’s Beijing office. He earned his bachelor of economics in Nankai University and the juris master in Peking University. He is a specially-appointed senior expert at the Beijing FinTech Industry Alliance and an editorial board member of the China FinTech Development Report (2021, 2022) and a columnist for Caixin.com.Paul has directly participated in the legal framework and technological innovation of several blockchain-related startup projects, provided specialized legal services for the Taopai NFT Platform, offered specialized legal services for the Hong Kong Digital Asset Ex Group Limited, and provided personal information protection compliance legal services for Minsheng Bank. He has also been involved in drafting four blockchain-related international standards in IEEE.Paul represented a number of Chinese companies that are making direct investments in foreign countries in sectors like wind energy, hydropower, sea ports, aircraft, and luxury yacht industry etc. The investors include Three Gorges, China Power, Sinovel, Sundiro, Geo Jade and other public listed companies or government-controlled enterprises. Paul also represented insurance capital in equity investment projects in the healthcare industry, and represented the listed company Xindazhou to acquire and withdraw from San Laurenzo, and to acquire the equity of Hong Kong Simpson Yacht Group.In the field of structured finance, Paul advised a number of foreign banks, Private Equity funds, commercial trusts, insurance AMC, financial leasing companies and Real Estate developers on dozens of Asset-Backed Securitization projects in the real estate and infrastructure sectors.Paul has extensive knowledge of on U.S. securitization, projects finance and their related legal problems. In November 2017, Paul published his first book on US securitizations, “Carving Cash Flow: from Securitization to Project Financing” (CITIC Publishing Group, Nov 2017).Paul Lee is familiar with programming languages such as Solidity, Go, JavaScript, etc. He developed an ABS asset pool management system based on Hyperledger Fabric 2.1 system and a “Company Book-entry System” based on EVM ^0.8.8 platform in Solidity, NextJS, Wagmi, TypeJS.
