With over 20 years experience in Information Technology and more than 12 years exposure to postgraduate level mathematics, I am taking on some new challenges in high performance computing: the Australian national infrastructure for weather and climate research. I taught Numerical Linear Algebra during 2009-2011, and Optimization Methods for two of those three years. In 2012 I obtained a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education at ANU, and in 2015 obtained Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.I have three research programs in mathematics, in constructive approximation, in combinatorics and statistics, and in applications of Clifford algebras. So far, these have resulted in 17 published papers, a conference paper, three submitted papers, and papers in preparation.Specialties: Research interests in mathematics and computing:Constructive approximation on manifolds,Combinatorics and statistics of words in sequences,Applications of Clifford algebras, including constructions for Hadamard matrices ane new formulations of numerical methods for partial differential equations, Object-oriented numerical analysis,Applications of ScaLAPACK and MPI. Skills include:Programming in Python, Matlab/Octave/Scilab, Maple, R, C++, Java, C, Fortran, Pascal, COBOL and assembler.Secondary research and business consulting focusing on the Information Technology industry.Data communications network design and maintenance in the travel and communications industries.

I managed a project within TIAS which used the TIAS system as the basis of a multi-access system to support the Fantasia (now Sabre Pacific) reservation system. This implemented the Sabre terminal specification over X.25. During 1992 to 1995, my role within TIAS changed to communications planning. I advised on the architecture of an SQL-based insurance application, and advised on selection of an air cargo community system, and helped to implement it. I participated in the EDICA (now Tradegate) Transport Industry Working Party and in the International Air Transport Association Standards Implementation Subgroup. I participated in a technical architecture planning project, advised on the selection of an email system for use by travel agents, and advised on the use of the Internet and the World Wide Web within TIAS.
