About Paul Long
I started sharing OCR ICT coursework resources free of charge to teachers across the UK and also internationally in the 1990s. I was a Head of ICT at a school in Walsall which was judged to be "Outstanding" by OfSTED with strengths in ICT until recently when I changed career path to focus on supporting other teachers.I spent many years as the Principal Moderator and Principal Examiner for the Structured Practical ICT Tasks coursework for OCR's AS Level ICT until I left to concentrate more on family life. During this time, I gained valuable experience and knowledge of how an exam board operates and how complex assessments need to be clarified in order for teachers and students to understand them. I was also a Principal Examiner for the AQA Level 3 Technicals qualification and was an integral part of the core development team for the new AQA GCSE in Computer Science.I was a co-author of two of Hodder Education's best selling text books:OCR ICT for AS by Paul Long et al (out of print)OCR ICT for A2 by Paul Long et al (out of print)I am also the main author for Cambridge International Examinations' Coursebook for A Level IT. I now self-publish textbooks and other resources which saves schools hundreds of pounds. My latest publications are The Ultimate GCSE Computer Science Resources which are used by schools across the world.I am a Raspberry Pi Certified Educator, Ofqual Subject Expert for Computing qualifications, a Subject Matter Expert for the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) and a Senior Lead Facilitator for NCCE.My main focus is now on providing Computer Science learning resources, including for the Programming Project, and training to schools across the UK and internationally. I have taught OCR's A Level in ICT, GCSE in ICT, GCSE in Computer Science and A Level in Computer Science amongst many other qualifications and my students achieved consistently outstanding results.When I am not working, you will find me enjoying time with my wife, son and daughter, spending time with friends and family, watching good quality television such as Homeland, or taking part in adrenaline filled activities. Most important to me is my faith in Jesus Christ and I am a member of Real Life Church in Sutton Coldfield. I am very active in my local community and am the Festival Director for the Boldmere Community Festivals which attract over 10,000 visitors.
