I retired from BT in 2015 and I'm now undertaking volunteering roles, I work for Citizen's Advice where I have now trained as a Gateway Assessor and am starting training to be an Advisor. For Suffolk Wildlife trust I work on conservations roles such as coppicing, building fences and paths, mowing grass and other jobs to maintain Suffolk Wildlife land.

I led the pan BT Project Management profession with 4000 members. This role included developing and managing the learning pathway, chairing skills review panels, reviewing and updating the skills and leading on the sharing of knowledge. I also led the involvement of community members through volunteer roles such as subject experts, mentors and coaches encouraging them to run knowledge calls and write blogs. I also personally provided development advice to community members. Each year I produced and agreed an annual improvement programme with senior stakeholders which I then led. I was the Project Management expert advising on the approach and to ensure they delivered BT’s business goals.

l worked within a team of consultants where I was responsible for introducing a new project assurance process into BT which went on to significantly reduce project failures. l recruited and developed a team to undertake these reviews. l also led the development of new Project Management training which addressed identified skill gaps in the company.

As a People Manager I was responsible for managing the personal development of 35 Senior Programme Managers. My key aim was to ensure they developed their skills and knowledge to the maximum to add the greatest value to BT. This included their annual performance management appraisal, agreeing their annual personal development plans and advising on which roles to undertake to develop their skills

I was responsible for driving up the quality of delivery for BT’s UK external contracts. This was a wide ranging role from setting up quality governance to being personally involved in improvement programmes.These included:- responsibility for contract and project reviews with largest clients- led recovery of £500m contract value project managing the earlier deliverables before handing over to team for ongoing roll-out. - led improvements to the broadband delivery process that was impacting some of the major projects at the time. - led debt reduction project for the Finance sector.- Put in place a GRC (Governance, Risks and Compliance) organisation in the Finance sector to meet quality requirements. Put in place audit programmes, met the requirements of SOX and LRQA.

I created a new organisation to deliver service to our largest contracts, transforming the previous product based organisation into truly being the outsourced IT department for our customers.

I was responsible for major change projects within the solutions operations team including leading the deployment of the first frame relay network and building the operations aspects of a strategic project to build capability for IT and desk top capability.

I was responsible for leading a service improvement from 63% on time delivery to 98%, also for dealing with customers issues at a senior level.
