Paul is an experienced non-Executive Chair and Director. In October 2020, he was appointed Chair of Sixty Bricks, a local authority owned housing development company. Its business plan is to develop a minimum of 250 homes per year, with a medium term vision to grow significantly in order to contribute to the Waltham Forest housing strategy of 17,000 new homes over 10 years. In early 2020, he was appointed Chair of Dawson Housing, a new start-up housing association focused on meeting the needs of homeless people and providing support services. He led the development of its business plan and the launch of Its first two schemes in Barrow, Cumbria. He has now left Dawson to move on to other initiatives. He is currently on the Board of Islington Law Centre and the national digital advice organisation, Rightsnet. He previously Chaired, Ascham Homes, a housing company managing over 12,000 homes, and providing homelessness and housing advice services in North East London, and was on the Board of Whittington Health, which provides hospital and community health services in North London.Paul has a business and economics degree and qualified as a lawyer in the US before coming to the UK for post-graduate research on a Marshall Scholarship. He worked in local government as Deputy Head of Building in Hackney, and Director of Works in Manchester before being appointed Chief Executive of Edinburgh Council. Paul established a public service management consultancy practice in the mid-1990’s and has worked for a wide range of local authorities and housing associations. Much of his work now focuses on strategic asset management and maintenance. Recent clients include Peabody and Yarlington Housing Group, and Homes for Haringey and Sutton Housing Partnership.
