I did an electronics apprenticeship with a TV broadcast equipment manufacturer. I learnt how to read schematic diagrams and fault find down to component level. From there I did my bachelor’s degree in electronics system design. From there I spent some time repairing and maintaining electronic and electrical systems on board merchant navy ships which were serving the oil rigs. Having never got over the sea sickness I moved into electrical design for a street lighting company. I then started teaching English in a few years ago and studied for my master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with a speciality in CALL (Computer Aided Language Learning) This is where I started using Moodle during the peak of the pandemic for my dissertation and for online teaching. Although most of my skills around Moodle are self-taught, I have attained two qualifications in Moodle – Teaching Moodle basics and Admin Moodle Basics. I would also consider one of my strengths to be learning new things and as technology evolves continuous self-development is critical.
