Traumatic brain injury is the leading cause of death and disability in the under-40s. Brain imaging is a prerequisite for effective treatment of brain injury, but is currently expensive and non-portable. This causes delays and every second increases the risk of disability and death. Cortirio solves this by providing portable, wearable brain imaging which can be used at the scene of an injury to enable faster clinical decisions, reduce time-to-treatment and improve outcomes for patients.

Started a business developing modular robotics which could combine dynamically for home automation. Worked with business incubator to develop business strategy and seek funding.•Developed hardware prototypes which could connect to other robots, share motor-loads collaboratively with ten degrees of freedom and wireless control•Developed robotic remote control software using Python in ROS

Project and technical lead responsible for cross-functional teams of ten covering: firmware development, analogue characterisation, DSP sub-cores development, development and test hardware, documentation, final testing, characterisation and qualification.- Project managed flagship product from first silicon delivery to production on schedule.- Responsible for schedule, resource planning and management, risk management, change requests, resource negotiation and estimation, project status reporting and quality level of deliverables.- Responsible for architecture design documents, task specification, managing schedule, defects, deliverables and workload between team members- Designed multi-device (and multi-CPU) architectures, managing data acquisition, throughput and computation.- Introduced the use of continuous integration (CI) using Jenkins and managed a team to develop CI to build and test all products.- Led research and development of first active stylus for capacitive touch screens project in collaboration with customer. Developed touchscreen algorithms and firmware for AVR-based custom multi-core ASICs.- Developed firmware for 8-bit and 32-bit AVR architectures, in C using IAR workbench- Developed object protocol and firmware library, allowing faster code reuse for quick customer response- Developed, optimised and debugged power, latency, speed and schedule sensitive products- Characterised new silicon over process, voltage, temperature (PVT) and writing test/calibration firmware- Developed DSP sub-core code using ncverilog and modelsim to simulate and debug operation- Wrote python tools for code library configuration and SVN management

Created a 2D impedance tomography hardware and software imaging solution based on my 3rd year dissertation.

I developed code to test customers integration of ARM processors, using HDL simulators and scripting.
