Smaller projects involve myself leading a small team to quickly meet the needs of the customer, while for larger projects I lead a multi-disciplinary team to ascertain the challenges and meet them. I have lead​ ​teams from 2-12 people​ ​in​ ​designing​ ​non-linear​ ​optics​ ​and​ ​laser​ ​amplifier​ ​assemblies​ ​for​ ​next​ ​generation laser​ ​systems.​ ​I develop ​and​ ​manage experimental​ ​design​ ​and​ ​execution,​ independently and within the context of project teams, ​coupled​ ​with​ ​computer​ ​modeling to​ ​perform​ ​novel​ ​investigations​ ​on​ ​solid​ ​state​ ​laser​ ​materials,​ ​surfaces​ ​and​ ​performance​ ​under​ ​many​ ​different regimes. I communicate closely with laser engineers and customers on past performance and upcoming requirements. Investigation of the mechanisms and methods to control nanoparticle assembly through experimental control of the system and computational modeling of the interactions withing a few nanoparticles and within large populations of nanoparticles. Making structures and assemblies out of nanoparticles that lend themselves to large scale production and use.

Worked on understanding polymer crystallization and structure formation through x-ray diffraction. Investigated the effects of introduction of nanoparticles to polymer thin films and fibers, particularly nylon, formed through different methods such as spin casting, drop casting, Langmuir-Blodgett films and extrusion. Investigated crytallite shape and formation in a graft copolymer of polyethylene and poly(ethylene glycol).
