Managing the Infrastructure and day to day 24/7 support across the global estate of 6 Datacentres, which comprises of 5.8PB of Storage, Oracle Solaris and RedHat Unix Servers and the Commvault Backup / Data Protection platform. • Successfully redesigned the Storage estate and migrated all storage onto a new global unified platform, enabling Data at Rest Encryption, Dedupe and Compression - Reducing the Cost per GB by 55% whilst absorbing 5 years of forecasted growth with an annual saving of ~£550,000 per annum - Improving the Effective Capacity with Deduplication and Compression on Application SSD realising 256TB Capacity savings equating to ~£800,000 of Disk Space• As part of the Storage refresh, there was an opportunity to redesign the firm's Backup Infrastructure, optimising the S/W feature set, along with dedupe and encryption whilst vastly improving the Backup performance. - Backup Time Reduction across all data types >70 % - Exchange DAG Backups on Average reduced from >10 Hours to ~3 Hours - CIFS Full Volume Backups reduced from 26 Hours to 23 Minutes - Dedupe 2.45PB to 192TB on Disk – 92% equating to 13:1 Ratio - Absorbed the Backup redisign and Infrastructure costs as part of the Storage refresh which came in underbudget• Remediated all EOL and Legacy OS's in the Linux estate, creating a consistent build and supported RedHat version. • Mentored both the Onshore and Offshore team members, partnering with the 3rd Party team in creating a Best in Class support group • Developed the 3rd Party Offshore Unix and Backup Level 2 Support team, to take on the Unix Engineering function and recently worked to build their technical skillset with both Internal and External NetApp training to be able to provide Level 2 Support for the Storage Estate.
