I started with Gateway Providores in 2007 as a Sales Representative and worked my way up through the company to now hold the position of Site Manager, reporting directly to the owners. Gateway Providores is a wholesale meat business, which supplies fresh meat to a variety of markets including but limited to, hotel’s, pub’s, RSL and Sporting Club’s, nursing homes, cafés, restaurants (1 – 5 star), Correctional Centre’s, Commercial Kitchens, Defense Force and Mining Camps all over Queensland. My job role is large and varied. It includes, but not limited to, managing a sales team, locate, create and pursue new business, B2B sales and purchasing, whilst managing and servicing clientele that I have built over the time that in have been working for Gateway. I am also responsible for all aspects of purchasing and supplier negotiations (fresh and frozen), stock control, organizing transport and distribution, problem solving, weekly stocktaking and profit and loss reporting, data entry and invoicing, phone sales, setting up and management of rebate structures for clients, product costing, sale prices and margins, and debt collection. With my extensive experience in Sales and Customer Service, I hold very strong relationships with all suppliers and key accounts held by Gateway Providores.As the Site Manager I also have many staff management responsibilities which include administration, sales, production, stores and logistic staff alike, ensuring that the systems in place are being followed and maintained whilst reviewing and analysing on an ongoing basis. HACCP, MSA, Safe Food Queensland and Halal certification management and document control are also a part of my current job KPIs.

After obtaining a 2IC position at KR Castlemaine (Victoria), I expanded my team management skills. This was a very intense role for a person of my age (21), particularly through staff training and product specification guidelines, whilst watching the commercial impacts like wastage and labour costs.

I completed my butchery apprenticeship with Top Meats in Victoria. Top Meats consisted of four quality gourmet retail butcher shops and I was given the opportunity to work in all four outlets under different tradesman allowing me to gain knowledge that many other apprentices didn’t have access too. During this period I was given the responsibility of relief management, beginning in my first year of my apprenticeship. At the commencement of my forth year I was given a Full time store managers role in which I thrived. An early release from my apprenticeship at 3 years and 5 months (normally 4 years) was granted due to excelling in my profession. During my apprenticeship I was awarded apprentice of the year for the Mount Alexander Shire (Central Victoria) in 2002 and nominated for apprentice of the year by The University of Ballart (Victoria) in 2002. During my apprenticeship I was trained in all aspect of Butchery, from Carcass break down to smallgoods production.
