    MetroBus is a new express bus service to the West of England region. It is a joint project between Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council and South Gloucestershire Council. MetroBus is a form of high capacity rapid public transport found in urban areas which is a smarter way of travelling that uses a combination of segregated busways and bus lanes. The Stoke Gifford Transport Link is a 1 mile new stretch of carriageway situated in a green field that is part of the new wider network route, North Fringe to Hengrove, linking Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford and the A4174.I was based on site in Bristol during the construction phase as the site supervisor for the Stoke Gifford Transport Link for a new express bus service called MetroBus. This role involved in daily communication with the Client, Contractor and Designers to make sure the civil works were built in accordance with the works information and highlighting when necessary any non- conformities and defects. Inspections and checks were carried out on a regular basis on all civil works including audits with specialists. I worked closely with the Contractor to ensure the appropriate health and safety measures were implemented and monitored in accordance with legislation and standards.I also carried out the role of a designer when necessary to propose solutions where there were conflicts with site based obstacles not foreseen in the design. I was MX Road software to analyse carriageway alterations where required.

    I was part of a team of ten volunteers on a two week programme to build a 56m span suspension bridge built in Las Brisas, San Juan de Limay, Nicaragua to aid 600 local people to cross a river as part of a partnership between CH2M Foundation and Bridges to Prosperity (B2P). I was tasked with multiple hands on construction roles over the two week period which included bending the rebar using a pre-set template, cutting the decking wood to size, erecting the scaffolding utilising B2Ps knowledge and supervising the local community members. I helped in the tensioning of the bridge cables, hanging up the suspender cables and bolting the decking to the bridge. I attended morning H&S talks with the team highlighting any safety issues as well as good safety observations that the team could learn from. I supported and implemented the CH2M team’s culture of ensuring all workforce members followed the H&S requirements while working in Nicaragua.

    East Sussex Integrated Services contract is a seven year joint venture between Costain and CH2M responsible for maintaining the East Sussex highways network, including roads, pavements, drainage, street lights, traffic lights and structures. The contract utilising the latest technological software for mapping highway works, services and issues to inform the community.I was responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the CAD data, production and filing system for the contract, ProjectWise. In collaboration with another engineer, I designed the systems and workflow for the framework utilising the ProjectWise software and CH2M’s standardised approach to all projects. I then undertook a LEAN exercise to maximise project efficiencies and workflow and tailored this to the framework’s Level 2 BIM requirement. I delivered the two day training session for over 40 individuals for both the ProjectWise system and AutoCAD.

    The A14 Cambridge to Huntington Improvement Scheme is a major new bypass to the south of Huntingdon. The project is valued at £1.5 billion and aims to improve the A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon to relieve congestion, unlock growth and help connect communities. The scheme is a joint venture between the designers, Atkins and CH2M, and the contractors, Costain and Skanska.This role involved organising and arranging the validation and arrangement of additional surveys by attending meetings with designers, contractors and surveyors. I drafted the survey specification documents, managed the production of the drawings and created a tracking system for the surveying areas.I was CAD and ProjectWise Champion for CH2M’s London office. This involved being responsible for the training and quality of the CAD and ProjectWise deliverables. I took a lead role in managing delegating tasks and organising CAD resources to submit the drawing deliverables for costing.Another role involved being the design lead for a side road alignments on Section 3a. I was responsible for liaising with design disciplines and ensuring that the highway alignment was to standard, incorporated any design commitments and didn’t clash with civils works. I amended the highway alignment with MX software to reduce on the need for departures and eliminate if possible as well as meet landowner requirements. I managed and drafted the Departure from Standards submission forms and drawings for Section 3a.I coordinated the Section 3a BIM model within my team to ensure disciplines delivered on time and the information produced was accurate. I supervised five other engineers in the production of the model and attended weekly highway BIM meeting to highlight progress and issues.

I had the role of carrying out inspections, road marking design, designers risk assessments and managing the completing of all drawings several multi-million pound projects.During my time as a graduate engineer, I worked on Lower Thames Crossing and was tasked with identifying the environmental constraints along the proposed alignment which involved liaising with the highways team to reduce the impact on a very environmentally sensitive area. I attended meetings with environmental specialists to highlight problematic areas and to justify the highway alignment through the affected areas.
