I graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in chemical engineering and began my professional career at the Milliken Research Center, Spartanburg, S.C. My career expanded into Quality Engineering and during this time I had the fortune to study under Dr. Edward Deming and Walter Chambers who were paramount in developing innovative quality systems.With this additional training, I began an internship at the Worcester Company. It was the perfect environment as it had all of the necessary capabilities to produce high fashion apparel fabrics. I hand picked a team from operations and we began class training on the theory of SPC, TQM and scientific methods. To our advantage, we had the entire plant as our research institution. From reducing the coefficient of variation in yarn, to solving color failures in package dying, the team succeeded in improving all aspects of quality within production. Today I work for Foss Manufacturing Company, a leader in specialty nonwovens. Since 2007, I have been the company's Director of Process Engineering during an exciting growth period with many new challenges and innovations. Automotive is a major division and a leading contributor toward environmentally safe technologies for trunk-trim composites, seating materials, headliners and innovative floor carpets. Foss also manufactures innovative PET staple fibers. In Feb 2011, Foss earned recognition for development of an antimicrobial face mask which was approved by the FDA
