    An exciting project which was well under way. Unfortunately the application as market maker at the regulator was delayed for so long for no good reason we decided to withdraw the application. A great pity if not a shame - good market makers are needed more than ever!!!

    SFOA was born in 1979 during the commodity crisis in order to bring together regulators, exchanges and clearing houses, brokers and trade in order to exchange ideas, thoughts. The Bürgenstock conference was the result and is till today a very important platform for the derivatives industry. For many years it is preceeded by the Emerging Market Forum which we always felt need to share our platform. It was a privilege and pleasure to be part of this great organisation for many years.     I was fortunate to join the old UBS at a time when options were being set-up (I know that sounds strange today... not even 30 years later!! Futures were still a no-no for UBS at that time!!! they followed in the early 90's. Besides managing trade desk was very active in education - something I still love to do even today! After the merger a step away from trading into client relations and finally another change into educating the banks young people.

    A fascinating time of changing jobs.... initially in the administration of importing machine tools, then back office for physical coffee trade. Later building up the futures department in the 70's and running it for 10 years in the boom times of commodity trading around the 80's. Great times!!!Midlife crisis let us leave New York at the end of 1985 and revamp life completely - new challenge at UBS and starting a family in Switzerland!
