Engineer Ii – Laundry Vertical Axis Wash Systems Algorithm
St Joseph, Michigan, United States
• Led the wash algorithm development subsystem for multiple projects. Responsible for cycle design, coordination and management of Product Approval (PA) testing. Notable projects delivered on time include 2018 Department of Energy (DOE) Min Energy digit change, 2018 FSOU digit change, VMAX 2.0 digit 0 Kenmore, and VMAX 2.0 vertical pump. The 2018 DOE Min Energy and FSOU digit change accounted for 50% of the models Whirlpool sells annually.• Pioneered the use of Nucleus, the new global software architecture, for the VA01G-AS22 settings file in collaboration with Whirlpool India, marking the first vertical axis wash unit launch on the new platform.• Developed and implemented two algorithms (load sensing and step fill) in the VMW 3.5 ft3 and FSOU washers, enabling compliance with 2018 Department of Energy minimum energy efficiency standards.• Developed and released a work flow for the VA File Setting engineer role following corporate design principals.• Managed settings files for VMAX 2.0 PSC Whirlpool and Maytag model lines, ensuring adherence to project timelines.• Provided an impact assessment to existing Marketing Claims for changing from the production horizontal pump on VMAX 2.0 PSC digit zero to the vertical pump on digit one. This assessment and recommendation achieved alignment with Legal and Marketing, resulting in a 6-week reduction in testing time and freeing up resources for other projects.
