Established a technology and consulting firm specializing in technology and corporate business development activities for Internet based and Network Marketing clients. Defcon performs a wide range of services, including software development, database architecture and design, database marketing, leader acquisition and strategic business planning services. Defcon has been the lead on a variety of specialized (from scratch) projects, including software design and implementation of systems for various Multi-Level-Marketing companies. Defcon has also managed streaming media network design and deployments for Internet based new-media companies. In addition, its Defcon Ventures division assists many companies with the structuring of Private Placements and fund raising. Mr. Nash is an NASD registered placement agent for fundraising activities, and has successfully raised capital for communications, energy, manufacturing and real estate development companies.

Conceptualized, developed, and implemented a business plan to establish an Internet based streaming video distribution network with a database marketing revenue model. Founded the company in 1998 and employed 300 people by August of 2000. Raised approximately $100 million in a combination of equity and debt for the project, with significant venture capital, vendor and angel investor participation.Developed a significant list of strategic partnerships during the period, including Microsoft, IBM, Compaq, Real Networks and Cisco, among others. Also established extensive relationships in the media industry with major studios and distributors such as Disney, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Hallmark Entertainment, Viacom and others.Responsible for overseeing the MicroCast network build out, which became the largest geographically distributed network of servers in the world for the delivery of video programming to Internet users. In addition, designed the company’s business model, database and system to individually insert targeted advertising into the video programming for each user. This platform was the first of its kind, and was utilized to distribute programming for MicroCast’s studio and program owner clients. Microcast was responsible for the largest web video event at that time, the PGA Tour Webcast from the TPCChampionship on March 23-24, 2000, with over 1,000,000 individual video sessions, and over 5 million ads served on a single day. Inter-Act Systems was the largest database marketing company in the world operating terminals in grocery stores for the delivery of dynamic targeted coupons to consumers. Developed the business plan, raised the funding for the operation and implemented the business from scratch, reaching about 350 employees internationally by June 1997. Up to March ’98, the company raised about $255 million, $142 million of which was sold as a public offering.Responsible for the implementation and operation of a 3500 machine geographically distributed terminal network, including international expansion. Established relationships with many grocery stores including A&P, Grand Union, American Stores, Albertsons, Key Foods and others. Managed the development of back office systems, EFT/POS and check-out/scanner interfaces for the project. Developed the database for coupon targeting purposes and supervised its implementation. Built the team, systems, software and services operated by the company, including the wide-area-network responsible for terminal control. Also responsible for the patent portfolio, which resulted in an $27 million award from litigation initiated during my tenure. Also responsible for overseeing sales andmarketing plans and working with high-level sales executives to assist in closing key accounts.In addition, in 1998 Inter-Act developed a consumer web site –www.shopperperks.com, where shoppers were allowed to choose from targeted promotional incentives made available by advertisers on the Internet. Directed the design and implemented the online system to interface to in-store terminals for coupon distribution and settlement, using my proprietary patent applications.
