Ohio’s Lutheran Disaster Response Program began May, 2019 and has been hosted since October, 2020 by Oesterlen Services for Youth (Springfield, OH).Member organization with the Miami Valley Long Term Recovery Group assisting individuals and families as they recover from the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes across Ohio.Chairperson of Repair and Rebuild Committee completing construction assessments and cost estimates for clients with storm-related home damage. Member of the Volunteer Management and Disaster Case Management committees recruiting and organizing groups of volunteers to perform debris cleanup and construction activities for tornado impacted clients across Ohio’s Miami Valley.

Lead the effort for Operational Improvements by measuring, monitoring and issuing periodic operational metrics and resolving maintenance and reliability issues.Develop scopes and execute capital projects, including tank farm optimization, truck and rail loading and advances in Overall Equipment Effectiveness. Core member in the development of the Small Project Process as well as project manager on small capital and expense projects at the plant level.Coordinate with other team members to create and execute scopes of work for operational and maintenance turnarounds.Fulfill Operations Leadership role by assisting in Plant Trials, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality systems including PSM, RMP, ISO and RC. Along with plant management, drive implementation of statistical quality and process control.

Managed technical department of five engineers and five maintenance personnel with $1.5 million annual departmental budget. Managed annual capital improvement initiatives with annual budgets ranging from $1.0 to $3.0 million: areas of improvement include process, utilities, and infrastructure.Continued to manage and oversee the $32 million environmental remediation project. Served as liaison for governmental agencies, corporate offices and selected design and construction contractors. Department personnel divided into three main disciplines.Process and Project Engineering: Majority of capital budget was spent in this discipline. Manufacturing improvements and cost saving initiatives drove most projects.Packaging Engineering: Shipment of regulated dangerous goods required the use of performance packaging that was United Nations (UN) certified. Regulated materials included flammable, corrosive, oxidizer and dangerous when wet.Maintenance: $1.0 million annual maintenance budget with maintenance supervisor and four maintenance technicians.

Responsible for budget and schedule of multiple capital projects and expense reduction initiatives. Past projects include: Installed semi-automated filling line to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Upgraded programmable logic control (PLC) system to increase reliability and provide for expansion. Renovated office facility to enable consolidation and centralization of plant resources.Technical representative for $32 million environmental remediation project regulated by the USEPA Voluntary Corrective Action program.

Daily duties included trouble-shooting process issues and implementing process improvements to increase productivity of a fatty alcohol surfactant plant.Responsible for improvement and maintenance of departmental distributive control system (DCS) and documentation as required.Regulatory Work: Responsible for determining the reportable quantities of SARA 313 chemical emissions as well as the departmental contribution to the plant’s Title V operating permit application and reporting.

Daily duties primarily comprised of designing and implementing process improvement projects, which focused on quality, product turnarounds, and increasing reliability.Technical Assistance Group Engineer: Provided technical support and trouble-shooting for both reactive and high vacuum distillation plants producing organo-functional silanes and surfactants.Process Improvement Team Leader: Led a multi-functional team in order to improve and optimize a newly commissioned $15 million continuous esterification, reactive-distillation plant. This new process streamlined production and was accepted as a West Virginia Pollution Prevention Program for 1995 SARA reporting due to the reduction in the use of solvents.
