Driving a roll-off truck for ReNu recycling services, a division of NorthStar. The main box sizes include a 10 yd, 20 yd, and 35 yard box. The three main job functions include: drop, pickup, and dump. For example, in the Seattle area a box filled with concrete would be picked up from the job site and dumped at a concrete recycling place in Renton.

Issuing permits for using the Right of Way (ROW) in the City of Seattle was the main Job. This was done from the 23rd floor of the Seattle Municipal Tower which is where the Street Use Division of the Seattle Department of Transportation is located. Permits were issued using the Hansen database software. Typical permits included: sidewalk restoration, placing a dumpster in the ROW, and concrete pumper trucks using the ROW. The job included coaching people at the counter. The top two main goals include public safety and mobility. The mobility of cars and bicycles on the street and of people on the sidewalk are all valued. When mobility impacts occur on an arterial street, a traffic control plan was required to be submitted and reviewed before any permit was issued. Almost all permits required a site plan showing where the use was to occur. Part of the job was to review the site plan to assure it contained the minimum information required. The job also included looking up existing permits and other uses of the ROW to assure that coordination between different projects could happen without undue disruption to the public.

Driving a dump truck was the primary job function. I also filled in as needed using other equipment and manual labor.

Driving a Tractor-Trailer for the Heavy Haul division of Swift. Outgoing trips serviced Costco stores in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Return trips varied widely. Performing pretrip inspections, keeping a current logbook, using Qualcomm for communication, and backing safely were all a part of the job.

The economy was in the dumps and jobs were tough to find. I eventually decided to upgrade my license to a Class A Commercial drivers license. From 1/24/2011 to 2/18/2011 I successfully completed the Class "A" Truck Driver Training Course at Commercial Driver Services, Inc with an overall combined GPA of 3.7.

Detailed drawings included relevant data on erosion control, storm runoff, grading, road improvements, sight distance, sewer, water, pollution prevention and other pertinent segments of profile information.
