I have worked with The Mersey Forest Team for a while, as Director for 18 years. The Mersey Forest is a long term programme of environmental regeneration across Merseyside and North Cheshire, delivering economic as well as community and environmental benefits. I am lucky to be working with a great team, on a fantastic project that, to date, has seen over 9 million new trees planted, thousands of hectares of woodland brought back into management and innovative projects developed that link The Mersey Forest to health, education, regeneration and climate change adaptation; creating new jobs, protecting landscapes and providing a better quality of place and life for the millions who live and work in the area. more information here www.merseyforest.org.ukI have worked on promoting "Green Infrastructure" for over 15 years. The concept has taken root now and is an effective way to embed the natural environment in planning and wider policy decision making.I previously worked in Scotland in the commercial forestry sector. I have degrees in Forestry from Bangor University and in Forest Products Technology from Brunel University. I chair the Northwest Green Infrastructure Think Tank, the National Community Forest Partnership and and am a member of the Nature Connected Management Group. I also chair the Sefton Coast Landscape Partnership.I am a member of Natural England's Landscape Advisory Group and the Woodland Trust's Conservation Advisory and Urban Tree groups and the FWAC Urban Woodland Group.I am a board member of Mersey Forest Foundation and Community Forest Land Trust - two (very) small charities - and an advisor to Community Forest Trust.
