KidLinks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides healing, hope, and happiness for children and families through therapeutic music entertainment and music therapy programs and resources. For almost four decades, impacting more than 430,000 children and caregivers, KidLinks has provided healing experiences for children with special needs through performing arts and media, therapeutic music initiatives, university-level music therapy training, and free/low-cost treatment programs. The importance of generous past support of donors and granting organizations in meeting the unique challenges of today cannot be underscored. When COVID-19 brought in-person hospital visits and music therapy sessions to a halt, KidLinks was able to quickly adapt and transform our direct services into virtual offerings, including Telehealth music therapy, “at-home” live streaming, virtual therapeutic music performances, and engaging media designed to build social-emotional learning skills. KidLinks remains committed to meeting the needs of hospitalized and homebound children, and providing safe and fun digital experiences for families and caregivers.Accomplishments as of December 2024:-Raising the highest North Texas Giving Day total in organizational history-Achieving second-highest Energy Golf Classic revenue totals in event history with over $480,000-Reaching and surpassing year-end giving goals and number of unique donors

The TOMODACHI Initiative is a public-private partnership between the U.S.-Japan Council (Japan) and the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, with support from the Government of Japan. Born out of support for Japan’s recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, TOMODACHI invests in the next generation of Japanese and American leaders through educational and cultural exchanges as well as leadership programs. The initiative seeks to foster a “TOMODACHI Generation” of young American and Japanese leaders.Generously funded by Mitsui & Co., Ltd., and entering its seventh year, the TOMODACHI-Mitsui & Co. Leadership Program contributes to the building of a “TOMODACHI Generation” of creative thinkers and driven achievers.Selected through a competitive process, young American and Japanese leaders who are professional, geographic, and gender diverse will visit each other’s countries, meeting influential individuals and prominent leaders. Post program, participants are expected to contribute to further strengthening U.S.-Japan relations as next generation leaders who understand and appreciate cultural differences and possess critical globally-oriented skills and mindsets.

Included developing events which educate Houstonians about the most salient issues in economic performance, foreign affairs, domestic policy, and multilateral relations in the Asia Pacific region. Duties include (listed alphabetically): •Arranged financial and cost-sharing/revenue-sharing agreements and MOUs with program partners•Assisted team with proper protocol for VIPs, dignitaries, and visiting diplomats, including coordinating logistics for visits by academics, policy experts, business leaders, and high-level government officials•Attended community events and diplomatic functions to represent Asia Society and develop long-term strategic relationships•Conceptualized one-off programs, year-long series, multiple year long-term series, and strategic partnerships with established national institutions, community groups, and local grassroots organizations•Drafted remarks and talking points for senior staff, VIPs, and board members•Envisioned department programming framework and worked with team to ensure balanced programming across content, formats, themes, and geographic focus •Expanded program mission through contact with colleagues in Asia, Europe, and US•Handled general program preparation: general research leading up to event, moderator questions, visual backdrops and printed programs, logistical details, and agendas for internal and external use, and reception planning•Managed Young Leaders Institute, including recruiting contract staff and working with team to develop content and outcomes•Researched developments (both short-term and long-term trends) in Asian economic performance, business development and investment, domestic and foreign policy, public diplomacy, and relations with the United States•Wrote post-program reports and synopses for local and global dissemination

My responsibilities included all family programs and school tours, educator workshops, community partnerships, architecture and art docent training, lifelong learning programs for young adults, and volunteer management. In my education roles at Asia Society Texas Center, I played a role in 825 events reaching 58,400 Houstonians. Managed the day-to-day responsibilities of Asia Society Texas Center's dance, movement programs, book discussions, poetry readings, musical performances and productions, and film screenings. Involved regular communication and program execution with community partners, guest performing artists, film producers, and award-winning authors.

Expanded roles from coordinator position included working closely with young professional patrons and developing partnerships between stakeholders in business and policy programs, performing arts, and visual arts. See "Education Coordinator" for full list of responsibilities.

Hired to inaugurate education department at Asia Society Texas Center, duties included among the following:•Brainstormed and organized summer camp for elementary and middle school students•Created teacher workshop series on Asian art, languages, and religions•Curated family film series and related summer activities •Developed partnerships with multiple arts, culture, and history institutions in Houston and US•Delivered presentations at area elementary, middle, and high schools •Designed art gallery timelines and maps, developed family and educator guides for rotating art exhibition•Inaugurated summer culture camp for children, policy institute for high school students, and annual festival to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month•Managed education and outreach department budget of approximately $150,000 per year•Managed team of one part-time associate, over a dozen art docents, and one academic year and three summer interns each fiscal year, managed all volunteers for architecture tours, art tours, arts and culture programs, business and policy programs, and special events•Managed family events on Central Asian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Sri Lankan culture•Organized adult education classes in tai chi, qigong, and yoga, performed over 150 presentations and gave approximately 300 architecture and art gallery tours, recruited docent corps for general and school tours•Served as community liaison on Shared Decision Making Committee (SDMC) at Houston Academy for International Studies•Worked with development team to identify institutional and individual donors and with communications team to promote programs to Houston community•Wrote and recorded art gallery cell phone guides

MOSAIC Taiwan is a fellowship exchange program for emerging Canadian and U.S. leaders to explore Taiwan and gain better understanding of Taiwan’s culture and society through extensive exchanges with local leaders from various fields. MOSAIC Taiwan 2017 Fellows took part in team-building and leadership-development exercises as well as workshops and lectures on topics involving Taiwan. There were visits to businesses and museums, as well as indigenous reserves and sites of natural beauty around the island. Participants met with government officials and young leaders in Taiwan to discuss issues of common concern, with a focus on fostering cross-cultural connections and friendships. Personal highlights included:•Discussions with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of North American Affairs, the American Institute in Taiwan, and the Mainland Affairs Council•Professional meeting with Vice President Chen Chien-jen•Cultural experiences to highlight Taiwan's history and diversity•Relationships developed with new friends from Canada, Taiwan, and the U.S.

Arranged speaker visits to Houston universities, delivered presentations and promoted Council programs at Houston high schools, designed and managed energy conference for high school students, led educator delegation on week-long trip in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, organized middle school summit on South and Southeast Asian cultures, promoted visits by former Presidents, Prime Ministers, and government leaders, researched and wrote briefing materials for teacher workshops on Central Asia, China, the European Union, Iran, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, and Turkey.

Participant during "The United States Meets Europe: A Forum for Young Leaders" in Washington, DC and New York. Program included professional meetings, seminars, and networking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Columbia University, the Consulate General of Germany to the U.S. in New York and the Office of the Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations, DEMOS, the Embassy of Germany to the United States, the German Marshall Fund of the US, National Public Radio, the United Nations, and the U.S. Congressional Research Service.

Interned with office of Mary Jo Kilroy (OH-15). Attended Congressional hearings and wrote briefing materials, communicated Congresswoman’s agenda and policy stances to constituents, gained first-hand knowledge of legislative process, researched health care reform, financial services, and homeland security topics for Congresswoman and her constituents, and tracked legislation affecting Congresswoman’s constituents.

Assisted Social Secretary with mass mailings and event planning, helped organize diplomatic missions around United States for Ambassador John Bruton, provided background research for senior European diplomats’ speeches on climate change, competition policy, counterterrorism, and human rights, and translated European Union policy into information accessible for high schools and universities.

Acted as liaison between Program and prospective students, maintained lines of communication between program staff and university personnel when Associate Director position was vacant, managed weekly graduate student discussion series, and organized events to educate Bloomington community about global affairs.

Served as interpreter for French and Spanish-speaking patients, registered and checked-in patients, maintained patient medial records and served as liaison between physicians and clinic personnel, organized patient records for Travel and Immunization Clinic.
