Managed the transition from ATC to the current AFIS service in 6 months from starting with the company, through greenfield training and started training new staff 7 months on completion of the process.Worked to develop the site and increase General Aviation traffic which was achieved and between the two national lockdowns in 2020, Coventry was 8th in the CAA’s movement figures for the UK and was the busiest September since pre-2009 (1 frequency and two staff now compared to full ATC and instrument approaches!).Currently stand on local and national Airspace Infringement team boards, along with CAP413 and numerous other boards.Currently preparing Coventry ATS unit to restart operations at the start of March 2021.

Co-founder and Chairman for the AUKFISO.Set up to bring all UK FISO units together to improve standards and ability to liaise with other units about operational issues.Discuss matters with the CAA about FISO issues in the UK and aid the CAA in producing updated/improved documents relating to the FISO service in the UK.The CAA has now adopted the Associations meetings as the formal working group for FIS in the UK and uses it as its interface to industry.

Cotswold Airport (Kemble)

Helped set up the FISO service at Kemble in 1998.Changed the Former RAF Kemble into a licensed civil airfield in 2001 and was responsible for aerodrome layout and safeguarding.Local Examiner for validations and re-validations for the AFIS service at EGBP on behalf of the CAA.Also current CAA Engineering PTC holder looking after all the airport r/t and navaids.Installed the 1st digital NDB system in the UK with appropriate safety case.Recently project managed the installation of code L3 LED Air Ground Lighting at Kemble and designed/implemented the first 100% transition from CAA cap168 aerodrome markings to EASA standard (it's not just the TDZ markings that change!)

Founder and elected 1st President of the International flight Information Service Association (IFISA).IFISA's aim is act as an umbrella organisation for all AFISO/FIS associations/unions/trade unions worldwide.Stood down as President due to family and time reasons.

Set up numerous special event FISO units throughout the UK for airshows.Engineer responsible for the Air Traffic systems installed at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix from 1999 to date. Stated as the most complex special events ATC install in the world - by the CAA, FAA & EASA.

Using a bespoke GPS based plotting system to provide airport layout plans for on-screen products within the ADSB/mode-s radar systems used for bespoke commercial systems, with both civil and military applications.

Longleat

I was responsible for Flight safety for the UK rounds of the Red Bull Air Race series at both Longleat events and initial planning and noise trials for the 1st London round of the world series.Liaising with the UK CAA about how RB wanted to operate in UK airspace and proving that the event was safe to hold in the UK, as well as creating two bespoke temporary airfields (one at Wing Farm in 2005 and Longleat 2006).
