When I was sixteen, I decided to become an Electrician. It took twelve years, a college diploma, a completed Industrial Electrician Apprenticeship (442A), blood, sweat and tears. I am proud to say that I'm in the career that I love. Through this journey, I've met incredible people who are masters of their crafts and the knowledge passed on has been invaluable. Once I completed my Electrical Engineering Technician Diploma at Mohawk College, I started working as a solar panel installer at AMCorp Technologies. The experience there will forever be a memorable one. Constantly troubleshooting problems and planning installations. The skills I learned from them I've been able to implement at my new position at ArcelorMittal Dofasco. Currently, I work as an Industrial Electrician, on shifts. We troubleshoot all the problems when the lines go down. Every hour, thousands would be lost if we aren't quick thinking and acting. The pressure to get the lines running is large, but we are able to step up to the plate and do everything in our power to get it going. All this, while keeping safety a top priority has made me very adaptable to many different situations. It's a real honor and privilege to work for a great company with even better co-workers. I excel when working as a team, but I also work great independently with keen ability to be a self starter.I've found that life doesn't stop when you've reached your goal. There is always more to learn, in your field and out. Learning to me is a life long journey, and now I am expanding my horizons. I found that Python and learning how to automate the world complements my electrical knowledge perfectly. Which is why I have started to teach myself the language; with hopes that it will be useful it in my place of work.
