As an internist, I specialize in the treatment of patients with chronic diseases with an interest in patients who have cystic fibrosis. My site served as a pilot for Prevea Health's patient centered medical home (PCMH) which eventually became the area's first NCQA level 3 certified PCMH.From 2004 to 2016, I served as Chair for the Department of Internal Medicine. My main accomplishment during this tenure was to unify the separate call groups that made up the IM department at that time. In addition I gained valuable experience in establishing budgets, devising goals and strategies for the department and dealing with difficult physician issues.In 2009, I began my work in the qulity department. As Vice President and Chief of Quality I have overseen: 1. The establishment of our successful Meaningful Use attestation, 2. The institution of our physician coach which became the cornerstone of our patient satisfaction campaign (we consistently scored in the top quartile of Press Ganey), 3. The transition from volume to value in our pursuit of population health and risk contracts with third party payers, 4. The establishment of Lean process improvement throughout the clinic and, 5. I was involved in the planning of the area's first SNFistprogram as we attempt to coordinate our care at all levels of the system.In addition to these duties I have participated on a number of boards. I was active in a steering committee that brought the state's first new medical school in 100 years to northeastern Wisconsin and still participate on its community advisory board. I have advocated at the state level for broader mental health treatment especially in terms of addiction and helped my system secure one of three HOPE grants awarded by the state of Wisconsin. At the Federal level, I have advocated on behalf of our system in challenging an artificially low residency cap.
