At Greenberg Traurig, I have a multi-jurisdictional legal practice in which I counsel clients on a wide range of environmental matters associated with real estate transactions and development projects. I lead a team of attorneys in the Philadelphia and Silicon Valley offices that manages environmental diligence and risk assessment for several leading private equity real estate and opportunity funds. Our focus is developing solutions to environmental concerns that arise as part of the acquisition, development, management, financing, and sale of commercial real estate. I regularly assist clients in developing strategies to achieve desired business outcomes. This includes selecting qualified environmental consultants and contractors, drafting and negotiating contractual terms and conditions, and developing scopes of work for Phase I and Phase II site assessments and remediation projects. I also draft and negotiate environmental provisions in purchase and sale agreements, leases, and financing agreements, including environmental covenants, land use restrictions, and remediation and indemnity agreements. My team assists clients in obtaining formal regulatory closure for properties through voluntary cleanup and other remediation programs, and to evaluate and obtain remediation and development-related tax credits and similar incentives when available. Along with others in the GT Environmental Practice, we also work to procure environmental insurance coverage that is specifically tailored to address identified risks or concerns, and to aid in the successful completion of real estate transactions and development projects.My clients include private equity funds, real estate venture and opportunity funds, commercial developers, and heavily regulated businesses and industries.
