Managing the Motor Damage Litigation Department. Responsible for recovering vehicle repair costs from all brands within the Direct Line Group. The teams are responsible for 5000+ claims across teams in the UK and South Africa.

A new position within the Parabis Group to recover vehicle repair costs and associated losses for a number of leading insurers and claimant service providers. Developing bespoke processes and management information dependant upon their particular business model.

Responsible for a team of 10 Personal Injury handlers.

jamjar.com was a Partnership with Direct Line and Direct Line Group to sell new and used cars primarily to Direct Line customers and to new customers. The role was to devise and promote finance products to facilitate vehicle sales and manage a sales team in order to meet a ￡2m sales target

Directline.com was a stand alone quote and buy product for motor policies. Working in conjunction with the web development team , several new products were designed and delivered such as motor claims online; amending motor insurance products and quote and buy pet insurance. Projects were designed and implement using Prince 2 methodology.

Leading a team of 10 claims handlers dealing with split liability claims and also actively managing non-Direct Line customers whose vehicles had been damaged in non-fault accidents. This was a new way of working and implemented in order to provide a high quality of service to non-customers both to save costs but also to demonstrate what Direct Line can offer to its customers.

Working as part of an in0house Solicitors team defending Court proceedings brought against Direct Line policyholders for losses including motor damage, vehicle hire and personal injury. The role required reviewing the cases and making economic settlements, whilst balancing the requests of policyholders and taking matters to a trial as required.

At the start, this was a new initiative from Direct Line to recruit and train handlers in all areas of motor claims starting with a thorough understanding of the Road Traffic Act and concluding with negotiating and settling personal injury claims. We were then put into claims teams and the role then progressed to a Deputy Team Leader dealing with all technical referrals and the most complex injury cases.
