At Computer Task Group I was placed in a co-employment situation with IBM as a member of the Support and Stability (STAB) team, tasked with the daily responsibility of monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting all of Walmart’s National and International servers. I was a subject matter expert in Pacemaker (Clustering Software), Xen (Virtualization Hypervisor), and DRBD (Distributed Replicated Block Device - Network RAID) responsible for monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting clusters of paired IBM M3 and M4 System x3650, HP, and Dell Servers supporting all of Walmart’s National and International operations. I created BASH/KSH and Expect automation scripts to monitor and update systems and created procedures and scripts used by Projects teams for imaging and configuration of conversions and new servers. Additionally I worked on special projects, including spear-heading an initiative to update RAID card firmware on some 700 servers. I also provided L2 support to the project teams during conversion of physical AIX to Linux virtual servers and server file system encryption (Vormetric), as well providing L2 support for an enterprise-wide disk encryption software upgrade project.

While managing Acorp Computers, I have reinforced my strong problem solving skills and increased my business and technological knowledge in topics as diverse as server/desktop virtualization and employee management. My 21 years of experience and my CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications attest to my wide-ranging information technology knowledge and networking abilities, while my business administration degree and 19 years as a small business owner have allowed me to develop high quality decision making and problem solving abilities, even when confronted with little time and less than complete information. Managing multiple clients, with multiple projects, needs, and budgets has allowed me to develop excellent interpersonal and communication skills, while also enhancing my aptitude at multi-tasking and my ability to exceed customer expectations. As the Network System Administrator for Envision Utility Software Corporation, I truly learned what it means to be a systems administrator, something that is not taught in school. Due to my skills, personal initiative, and strong drive to achieve results, I quickly rose from the position of Information Technology Analyst, supporting the IT mission of Envision, to the position of Senior Network System Administrator, where I was responsible for the business’ entire network and technology systems and managing two junior network administrators.

Starting as a Programmer I, my skill and dedication allowed me to be promoted up ultimately reaching the position of Systems Analyst/Senior Programmer III. I also got my first taste of management, as I supervised the work and productivity of three junior programmers as they responded to break/fix requests from clients. It was this time that convinced me that, while I have a real talent for programming, my interests lay more with management and network administration.

I worked at Compu-Answer through my last two years of college, and into the year following graduation. Though a college student, I quickly proved my ability to excel in providing telephone technical support to nationwide clients on hundreds of different software packages. After six months at Compu-Answer, I was promoted to shift supervisor, where I managed an average of five technical support representatives and resolved escalated trouble tickets. My last year at Compu-Answer I enhanced our Folio Knowledge Base and developed a call tracking, knowledge base, and ticket tracking support system in FoxPro.
