Tourism Industry Advisor for Wellington County, the Region of Waterloo and the Region of Niagara. Developed and Managed the implementation of tourism planning tools including the Premier-ranked Tourist Destination Framework and a Guide to Understanding Demand Generators. Contributed as a member of a planning committee to develop the Ministry of Tourism’s tourism strategy released in 2003-2004. Facilitated consultations with the tourism industry to draft a destination development strategy within 7 key tourism destinations in the Province of Ontario. Delivered over 30 speaking engagements at conferences, and over 150 presentations through selected workshops, topics of which include destination management and marketing. On-going communication with tourism operators, senior management, other government departments and ministries, on product development and marketing strategies in Ontario. Planned and carried out regional market research and analyses.

Established networks to cluster tourism product and experiences leading to increased presence in the domestic and U.S. border state markets. Established and maintained close working relationships withprivate sector companies in the manufacturing and tourism sectors in Southwestern Ontario. Assistedinnovative growth firms to undertake strategic planning, develop export marketing plans, and securefinancial assistance.

Worked within a team environment to deliver the programs offered by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. Established and coordinated financial planning and evaluations associated with the processing of applications for financial assistance, disbursement and loan administration. This included analyzing specific investment proposals, making recommendations to the General Manager and Board of Directors of the Corporation. Analyzed, in conjunction with Ministry policy staff, current and emerging trends including economic, social, health and cultural issues in Northern Ontario.

Worked within a team environment to foster long-term business arrangements such as joint ventures and licensing agreements between Canadian companies and Third World countries, through programs by offered by CIDA’s Industrial Cooporation Division. Increased technology transfer by encouraging training opportunities for Third World countries at specialized training institutes in Canada.
