I am a driven individual who enjoys attaining new knowledge and skills in all aspects of my life but especially in science or more specifically Forensic Sciences. A keen and experienced researcher in the area of fingermark enhancement and forensic sciences, I am currently writing up my PhD with the aim to submit in 2022. My research explored a range of techniques, both physically in the laboratory and in terms of data analysis. I have taken the opportunity to develop my teaching skills by leading lectures, tutorials and laboratory practical classes, especially in the area of chemistry in application to the forensic sciences. Given the challenges of teaching during a pandemic, I have learned to be adaptable and resilient whilst working both alone and as part of a larger team. I regardless of the stage of my career I am at, be that undergraduate, post graduate research student or member of staff, I take an active role in engaging with relevant committees that I can both learn from and contribute. In addition to delivering content to undergraduate students, I have actively engaged with the STEM ambassador programme in delivering talks and activities to school pupils at a range of levels. As a PhD student, I also contributed in preparing the REF2020/21 submission for my division. This work aided in developing my appreciation for the need to plan and measure impact in addition to having a structured, longer term, plan for research of both the individual and the division. In addition, I have been published twice in high impact, peer-reviewed journals in the last 2 years. I am currently writing my thesis with the aim of submitting early 2022 and am actively looking for my next employment opportunity. I bring a range of skills, scientific in the laboratory and in data analysis, as well as other transferable skills such as the ability to convey complex information at a range of levels suitable to the audience. For my next career step I would be eager to take on a role where I can continue developing both my teaching and research skills however, I am also keen to take on a new challenge and implement the other interpersonal skills I have developed over the last 4 years. I am looking for a role which will use the skills I have already developed as well allowing me the opportunity to continue my professional development in a range of areas.
