BioVolt is setup to provide handheld Point-of-Care diagnostic products for a range of afflictions to optimize the time-to-diagnosis, help people overcome chronic diseases and reduce the cost of healthcare. It is currently in the development stage and preparing for an investment round.Humanalyse is selling unique products for science and care in energy metabolism. The company also actively supports Trustfood, a foundation dedicated to healing through better nutrition and lifestyle.

This Translational Board is part of ENATRANS, an European initiative to increase the success of start-up companies in NanoMedicine. ENATRANS is an initiative of the European Commission and the European Technology Platform Nanomedicine, which I chaired in the first 5 years of its existence.

This Platform brought together a broad community of Universities and Research Institutes, and large and small companies active in the emerging field of Nanomedicine. Its members initiated European research projects to the tune of € 1,1 billion in the first 5 years, half of which was funded by the European Commission.

Led strategy & business development for Philips' Healthcare since 1998; prepared for and participated in the acquisition of companies representing a value of over US $ 6 bln; developed the public profile of Philips Healthcare in leading media around the globe and the financial community, developed the company's profile with Europe's governments.Starting as a researcher in the physics department of Philips research laboratories in Eindhoven, I was product manager in a professional business and managed a different professional business unit with€75 million of revenues. Worked in Philips' headquarters in the nineties, and contributed to changing the companies focus from the analog to the digital world in the nineties. Lived in Germany in the eighties, and the USA in the mid nineties and 2003 - 2006.Studied chemistry and physics in Utrecht the Netherlands, wrote a PhD thesis on chemical physics.
