I am a very experienced design / project engineer with excellent 3-D CAD skills, Unigraphics (NX10) , Catia V5 and based on learning Catia to a productive level of competence after a 1 week's training and Solidworks, which I taught myself in a couple of weeks, I believe I could do the same with any other system, i.e. Solidedge, Autocad etc. together with TeamcentreI originally trained at Hatfield Polytechnic (now The University of Hertfordshire) in Mech & Aero Eng'g, I have mainly worked in Automotive Powertrain but have experience of several other industries, including consumer products and special purpose machinery together with a period as a sales engineer, which provides an enhanced breadth of experience to any job I take on.By working successfully in industries other than automotive I have a proven ability to adapt and to fit in to any team I am assigned to.I have experience of running small design and development teams and of liaising with both customers and suppliers. I enjoy working in a team environment and am willing and able to learn from anyone. I am able if necessary mentor other employees in areas where I have expertise.I have considerable experience of for the following production methods, plastic mouldings, most forms of casting in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials, sheet metal design and welded fabrications. I can use my skills and knowledge to convert a concept into a fully working design, I can then, with the assistance of purchasing, arrange for procurement, I don’t even mind getting my hands dirty to assemble the components and carry out testing on them.My commercial and liaison experience brings a balance between the perfect engineering solution to a problem and cost effective design solution.I have worked within the major Company environments and have experience of many of their program management tools.Specialties: I am experienced in most engineering manufacturing processes and have designed components in most materials.

Design EngineerJcb Jan 2013 - Mar 2014Rocester, StaffsI have been working for the Government & Defence division of J C Bamford for the last 15 months. As it is military related I can only describe in broad terms the work I have been carrying out.My initial task has been to identify potential suppliers who could provide the specific equipment required to enhance the machines capabilities. I then worked with the identified suppliers to facilitate the transfer of information to enable design proposals to be tabled. I built up a very good rapport with these suppliers, so much so that some of them built the equipment at their own risk for testing, this was very much appreciated by the client and helped to create a good image of the JCB organisation. I had to carry out the design work to integrate the suppliers equipment with the machine, i.e adaptors, hydraulics, electrics etc. This phase included visits to exhibitions and also to supplier sites for evaluation of them. I was involved heavily in the process of short listing of the suppliers for each enhancement and also in the writing of the supporting report to the client. More recently, I have been involved in putting together the tender for another phase of this project, including estimating the amount of time and manpower required to carry out the design tasks to meet the contract requirements.During my time here I have also been involved in the design work necessary to resolve production and user issues. The company uses NX with Teamcentre for engineering all products. -
