I have over twenty-five years’ experience in the building industry as an electrical engineer and electrical team leader.My experience has encompassed project management including marketing, resource planning, estimating, invoicing and liaison with clients, architects and contractors throughout the design and construction stages.My professional expertise includes working on projects, both at concept design phase and in detail design. I have worked in the areas of health, laboratories/research, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, government, retail, infrastructure, data centres, retail and education, with particular skills including high voltage infrastructure, low voltage reticulation, access control and CCTV , intruder detection, laboratory alarms, emergency power systems and reticulation, UPS installations, Information and Communication Technology ,ICT building and campus level facilities.Following an indentured apprenticeship with British Oxygen Company, BOC (UK) and subsequent sponsorship at university I went on to become a project design engineer in London for BOC.I went on to lead several electrical design departments at numerous leading design consultancies in the UK. I became a Chartered Electrcial Engineer in 1991.Since emigrating to Australia in 2004, I gained RPEQ status in 2006.I formed Paul Smith Consulting Engineers in 2009 and have provided consultancy services to various clients in Queensland.
