Performed mechanical design & drafting work for marine cranes & test structures. Carried out FEA stress analysis of machinery. CAD software used was Inventor & AutoCAD. Created manufacturing assembly drawings and layouts. Sized & designed hydraulic plumbing for cranes & winches.

Design of oil rig substructures, rig moving equipment, and industrial machines. Moving equipment was of two varieties, large trailers & hydraulic walking systems. System capacities ranged from ~1 to 5 million pounds. Design work conducted in AutoCAD. Used RISA 3D to model structures as beam elements. Designs followed AISC, AWS, and API codes. Oversaw design work of injector cart support structure and chain drive interface. Oversaw design work of 60 ton capacity crane to interchange coil-tubing reels.

Developed concepts for emission components and assemblies for diesel engines. Parts were typically bolted assemblies of laser cut plates, welded fabrications, sheet metal, sand castings, etc. Ran preliminary structural analysis of components and assemblies to ensure they could withstand typical static loads and that their natural frequencies were high enough per modal analysis. CAE was ran in NX Nastran.

Design Work: Responsible for the design and packaging of diesel exhaust / after-treatment systems for commercial trucks & buses and for underhood HVAC content. Analysis Work: Instrumental in development of 1D simulation tools for Thermal Management group to aid in upfront design work to improve likeliness that vehicle requirements would be met upon initial testing pertaining to exhaust backpressure, EGT drop, heat transfer to underbody components, & DEF system restriction & flow.Aftertreatment Experience: Worked closely with internal Aftertreatment Group on issues related to exhaust backpressure and soot loading of diesel particulate filter. Also worked with external aftertreatment vendors (Cummins, Tenneco) regarding their requirements, aftertreatment structural and thermal performance, and coordinating prototype parts for advanced builds.Test Experience: Documented vehicle sub-system requirements and cascaded to test group. Oversaw work requests & coordinated with vehicle test managers regarding test schedule. Communicated necessary instrumentation & test requirements to test engineers/technicians.

Helped maintain small engine research facility. Facilitated upgrades in equipment and dynamometer. Fabricated engine test stands to easily couple and de-couple engines from dyno.
