Sparky's Cosmic Journey is a multi-media cosmic rock experience. Starting life as a live alternative quirky rock band in 1995 the group won the Christchurch Battle of The Bands and the right to perform at the final Mountain Rock Festival in Palmerston North the following year. More music frestivals followed. In 2000 they had a worldwide internet hit with the video for "More Than A One Night Stand" which went to NO#1 as the most downloaded video on America's NBC Television website with over 1.3 Million downloads. A live version of "Superseismic Girl" and the music video "Space Jungle" also created much interest. The band created so much traffic that the website couldn't cope and was shut down. Also in 2000 the group released the Sparky's Cosmic Journey "Live at The Lumiere" concert video. This received international airplay with one station in Arkansas playing it daily for a month in prime time. In 2004 the band released their debut self titled album and two videos for the songs "Superseismic Girl" ( which won the Knack Award at the Kodak Music Clip Awards for Best Video under $5000) and "I'm Good". Having added a fire breathing Red Dwarf ,new multi-media show and Alien dancers to the line-up plans for a US tour were underway. Unfortunately Sparky's Cosmic Journey's New York manager was diagnosed with cancer and the tour was cancelled. The band continued playing until 2007 when it was decided to take the concept to the next level and create a screenplay/ rock opera. Work is continuing on this project.
