At King Of The Road Cars and AnB Cars I was a taxi driver for my family's private hire business in East Grinstead. To become a taxi driver I had to pass a Mid Sussex knowledge test, showing that I have a good knowledge of all the roads and local attractions in the Mid Sussex area. I did this job to earn extra income around other jobs and between jobs I also had to retake my driving test under special taxi conditions in Crawley which I managed to pass full time. My job involved working very closely with the public, from young to old, all with different needs. This was great for me as I have fantastic people skills, and communication skills. The job is all about being where you have to be on time, whilst driving safely and making sure the journey is as comfortable as possible for all passengers. I had a great time doing this job and met some fantastic people, it helped me gain character and confidence in myself and gave me some great skills which I have taken forward into future employment. At National Express I was on an instruction rota which meant my shifts could be changed with 24 hours notice which was very hard, but it meant each day was different. I worked on a 4 on 2 off pattern and my routes took me from Brighton, Gatwick & Heathrow. And occasionally Eastbourne & Stansted Airport. I enjoy driving, and that is why I enjoyed this job. I am customer service driven, and I took my skills into this role everyday at National Express. Since started there I gained positive feedback from customers via text messages and I worked to get all my CPC certificates up to date. Show less

I took on this job as I needed to secure a mortgage on my house, and being self employed before I was finding this difficult. I really grew into the role, and I learnt valuable customer service skills. I had to arrange and take deliveries into the warehouse, then also arrange to dispatch and deliver the items. Items such as sofa's, bedroom furniture & general household accessories. Most of the time this would involve building the furniture in the customers houses, or in the warehouse before delivery. Taken as a short term job after returning from3 months travelling in Australia. My main role was to deliver all types of bathroom equipment, including shower enclosures and bathroom tiles. This job gave me a great opportunity to work closely with the public, and helped me gain valuable telephone and time keeping skills.

At Metrobus I was employed as a Bus Driver. For this role I had to pass a PCV driving test which I took and passed in Coulsdon. I also had to pass a hazard awareness and theory test. Whilst at Metrobus I gained great communication skills in working closely with the community. I also gained skills in handling and counting money. My time keeping skills were brought into play in this job, having to make sure I got to destinations both on time and safely.
