FPGA and CPU core design utilizing the ALTERA EPXA4 ARM9 (ARM 9TDMI) 166MHz processor w/ 400K FPGA gates, 100MHz SDR SDRAM, FLASH, synch SRAM (for graphics), a 16bit EBI, and a 460MHz LVDS interface to a Toshiba XGA LCD. Worked intimately with Marketing and interfaced with customer in detailing the System Requirements, hardware deliverables, and product final V&V (DO-160 & DO-254). Significant experience in LCD technology and application. Specified glass in ‘lay-flat’ form from manufacturer and detailed hardening process for use in Avionics applications. VHDL design experience includes FPM DRAM controller, ARINC 429 comm engine with 16 Rx & 8 Tx hi/lo speed interfaces, RS422, RS485, RS232 UARTS, SPI master engine implementing Motorola QSPI, debounced Digital I/O modules, PWM modules, Watch Dog, and quadrature Encoders. Also ground-up designed 32bit MIPS RISC R2000 (5-stage) processor in VHDL for Masters Thesis, with full raster graphics co-processor in one SoC device.
