My responsibilities were:-Overseeing a staff of up to twelve building fabric maintenance operatives and general assistants within a site based team of mechanical and electrical engineers To maintain all aspects of building services in the most efficient and economical way.Responding to client requirements both proactively, such as through routine preventative maintenance regimes, and reactively in response to internal helpdesk calls. Carrying out works in all areas of the client's site including plant rooms, comms rooms, and the client's office areas. Farmiloe is a long established privately owned wholesale distribution business serving the sanitaryware industry. My duties involved running a storage and distribution facility which was housed in a grade II listed four storey Victorian warehouse adjacent to Smithfield market. Items of stock to fulfill sales orders were 'picked' during the day and assembled for loading as per the delivery run order which I worked out each day.Daily deliveries in of high turn around stock were received from manufacturers across Europe by articulated vehicle which required unloading, checking and incorporation into the warehouse as quickly as possible and with a high degree of accuracy. Managing this operation in this environment with a staff of six was challenging. I was also responsible for a fleet of eight 7.5 tonne commercial vehicles and drivers who made daily deliveries to customers across Greater London and the South East of England. My duties included ensuring that all the relevant legal aspects pertaining to the company's commercial vehicle operator's licence were adhered to, including driver's hours and the maintenance regime of the vehicles.Prior to 1993My main area of employment was within the logistics industry, working in varied and different roles including warehouse manager, transport manager and export packing manager. I have run storage facilities for long term contract customers, over seeing goods inwards including checking of deliveries into storage and distribution of client product across the UK to meet their own sales order commitments. I have also run a freight warehouse and distribution warehouse, receiving and dispatching time and value sensitive consignments by road, sea and air freight.In my employment in the export packing industry I have handled a very broad spectrum of items and consignments for shipping by all modes including antique furniture, hazardous materials, the personal effects of foreign diplomats and complete racing cars.
