I trained in the Insurance industry with a major insurance company, specialising in motor claims at the company HQ in the City.I then joined the Metropolitan Police in 1983 and remained on general policing for about 6 years before transferring to the Traffic Division.I remained within Traffic for the rest of my 33 year career, specialising in Collision Investigation and working full time within a dedicated Unit from 1998.During my time in the Collision Investigation Unit I was involved in several high profile operations and inquiries. As the Senior Forensic Collision Investigator I was responsible for the work of a busy Unit, overseeing the work of 8 collision investigators, training and mentoring new recruits, and creating standard operating procedures that are in use today.I was the lead for the MPS on Incident Data Recorders, working with suppliers to develop software and devices that fitted the MPS requirements.
