I’m a start-up Junkie, I love to build things! Whether it’s taking the lead on a new venture, or building a new division from the ground up, I love the “David v Goliath” challenge of building something that holds its own against global players. I am inspired by the ethos of Ricky Gervais that: “You should bring something into the world that wasn’t in the world before. It doesn’t matter what that is. It doesn’t matter if it’s a table, or a film, or gardening — everyone should create. You should do something, then sit back and say, “I did that.”Focused on recruitment for the Australian mining market, I am dedicated to supporting my clients to achieve higher retention, through prioritising quality hires, and developing ‘outside the box’ attraction strategies, which ultimately lead to millions per year in increased production. I am interested in the profitability of client businesses, not just how many boots I can put on the ground. I think this can be done by making recruitment better – focused beyond just making a placement. I am committed to helping people see mining as a career, not just a ‘get rich quick’ option. My focus is on facilitating education and training, setting a path ahead of people entering an industry and upskilling the future of mining. I prioritise support for companies who are committed to the same thing. I refuse to work with ‘cowboys’ who don’t value safety or staff development, and I am willing to have tough conversations with companies who don’t see it this way (and hope they will lead to positive outcomes!)I am an experienced generalist recruiter in mining, but drilling recruitment is my niche. I love the drilling sector –I worked on the rigs so it has a special place in my heart– it is a very rewarding and fulfilling career in mining, and this is a sector who I believe are willing to do their part in developing their employees.
