Paul started working in Financial Services in 2002 whilst at university studying for a degree in Computational Physics. After graduating, he quickly secured a number of promotions into roles where he could combine his skills in maths, analytics and management with his personal qualities in collaboration, engagement and coaching. Paul has a rich and varied work experience having held a range of leadership roles within technical and specialist areas. In 2020 Paul left Financial Services to pursue a career in Teaching. After completing a PGDE (Physics) where he achieved distinction in all assignments. Paul is thriving in teaching where he delights in supporting young people achieve their full academic and personal potential. He works hard as part of the learning community and personally invests in his professional development.

Having assessed and benchmarked the current technological and colleague capability, I shaped the data and reporting strategy and designed a strategic solution that enables better insight, efficiency and control around data management and report automation. The key objective was to move two reporting functions away from MS Access/Excel foundations onto a bespoke SQL environment, delivering automation and control across the reporting portfolio as well as production efficiencies and uplifting colleague/area analytical capabilities. These included effective prioritisation and change control processes, coding and route-to-live standards, replatforming from out-of-support systems, improved engagement with business stakeholders and investing in colleague development- led the function through a number of high-impacting business incidents ensuring solutions were implemented quickly and safely, stakeholders were fully engaged with impacts, costs and risks fully communicated and controls implemented to improve system/process resilience avoiding the risk of repeat- improving the culture of performance management amongst managers by introducing coaching and tools to enable colleague-led development focused conversations and fair, consistent appraisal practices across functions -
