Since joining SLR in November 2021, I've been instrumental in driving nature-positive outcomes, aligning closely with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). My leadership in guiding organisations through TNFD’s LEAP (Locate, Evaluate, Assess, Prepare) approach and mapping these frameworks to the emerging European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) has prepared companies for the evolving sustainability landscape.I have led multiple TNFD projects in the UK, Europe, and globally, focusing on establishing nature baselines and crafting strategies for net-positive impacts by 2030. My role in integrating TNFD guidelines into organisational structures has centered on reviewing nature-related impacts, linking these to business risks, and refining governance structures.In collaboration with international NGOs, my efforts have enhanced Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and policy frameworks, tackling investment barriers and fostering legislative and financing innovations for sustainable land use. Projects spanning UK grassland ecosystem services, sustainable farming practices, and natural capital strategies in the North-West Highlands of Scotland underscore my commitment to nature enhancement efforts.For the public sector, my guidance on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) preparation for local authorities in England has shaped policy and strategy. I also led a vital project in the British Virgin Islands, developing a framework to capture post-hazard losses, contributing to community resilience and disaster preparedness.

Strategy advice and industry intelligence for companies in Asia.Project Manager for a major USAID-funded program to help businesses in Papua New Guinea cope with Covid-19 risks, and to thrive in the long-term.Natural capital strategy and financing, for various organizations, both internally and externally (including corporates and NGOs).

Prepared all aspects of companies’ corporate sustainability disclosures such as Sustainability Reports, Integrated Reports and the DJSI Corporate Sustainability Assessment. Impact valuation work for a number of large corporates, including cost-benefit analysis and impact investing advice.Implemented strategic actions to: boost companies’ sustainability culture; align sustainability targets with the Sustainable Development Goals; and devise realistic sustainability roadmaps for long-term improvement.Climate change strategy, including TCFD reporting and carbon pricing advice. Designed an Excel-based tool to help a major petrochemical multinational set science-based targets for their GHG emission reductions.

Lead economist at Scottish Natural Heritage (a public body); managed the economics work programme and supported Ministers with policy advice and briefings.Innovative work for Scotland’s Natural Capital Asset Index (NCAI): developed an integrated model to track change in ecosystem service potential; and guided the NCAI’s approval to become one of the Scottish Government’s national indicators. Technical advice for economic appraisal such as cost benefit and multi-criteria analysis. For example, contributing author for “Beavers in Scotland”, a historic species reintroduction.Part of the steering group on a pilot project for land-based businesses to implement the Natural Capital Protocol.Provided socio-economic advice to Ministers, notably about the efficacy of existing deer management arrangements in Scotland.Chaired a sub-group of the Natural Capital Group, part of the government’s work for the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy.
