About Paula Becker
More than thirty years of textile design experience. Specializing in weaving and creating original artwork in repeat, by hand, and with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I develop woven jacquard and dobby designs including weaves, yarns and colorwork, with complete technical instructions for mill production. My designs have been reproduced as jacquard, dobby, print, embroidery and velvet textiles for the home furnishings trade. I take great pride in my work, enjoy collaborating with clients and have a true passion for textiles! After completing my MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art, I taught weaving and design as an adjunct professor at PCT&S, RISD, and UMass Dartmouth, while continuing to work in the textile industry. I currently teach weaving and textile workshops to children, and enjoy sharing my passion for textiles with others. Throughout my design career I have continued to develop my work as an artist. I exhibit my art in galleries and create custom work for clients. Please view my website for examples of my design and artwork.

Paula Stebbins Becker
I am passionate about art and textiles. With various materials and techniques I work first by hand; drawing, painting, weaving, to create a texture or pattern, inspired by nature, color, fashion, art and cultures around the world. For me, the process of making an artwork or weaving combines intuitive creativity with research. It is important to be in tune with current trends while creating work that is from a fresh perspective. I enjoy collaborating with other designers to create textile collections. Over the past 35 years I have designed artworks and woven constructions for dobby, jacquard, embroidery, velvet and printed textiles. Working with various domestic jacquard mills, decorative jobbers and convertors as a designer and a manager. I am so grateful for the supportive people and friends that I worked with along the way and for the skills and experiences that I have gained so far. I look forward to new creative collaborations, making hand created artwork and digital artwork for textiles.
