As a solicitor, Paula was a member of the Law Society’s Advanced Family Panel and Children Panel for many years. She was an accredited specialist in both public and private law Children Act cases and in domestic abuse. She trained as a mediator in 2005 and successfully undertook the Higher Rights Advocacy training in 2009 and vulnerable witness training in 2018. Paula is particularly skilled in representing parties in care proceedings. She has been involved in many cases involving injuries to children including bone fractures, brain injury, burns, bruising, death and sexual abuse. Paula is also very experienced in representing parents and children with learning disabilities. She has detailed knowledge of the law relating to Education Health and Care (EHC) Plans for children with additional needs and the process involved in making those applications.
