This work focused on commercial and institutional buildings, including commercial office buildings, justice facilities, highway maintenance garage facilities, museums, schools, parks and recreation facilities. Energy management plans for small- to large-sized commercial buildings provided annual energy cost savings estimates in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Energy audits as well as building condition assessments were performed so projects could be assessed, approved, and sequenced by priority. Executed projects included LED Lighting Upgrades, Boiler Fuel-switching Upgrades, Building Recommissioning, Controls System Upgrades, Heat Pump Additions, Building Envelope Upgrades, and Sub-Metering Installations. Had LEED Enhanced Commissioning written into policy for a large organization as a minimum mandatory requirement for future LEED projects to ensure proper commissioning and turnover is completed to hold design and construction teams accountable for building performance which protects clients from higher operations costs.Proposed and led a Fuel Switching heat study to compare the potential of wood products against oil, propane, and electricity and heat pump options for commercial buildings, presented at the Wood Pellet Association of Canada conference in Vancouver in September 2022.
